Julie Beck was born and raised in Western Upstate New York in a small town on the Erie Canal. The rural landscapes and rust belt towns she grew up in remain the inspiration for much of her work. In 1998, she moved to Rhode Island to attend Roger Williams University, where she received a Bachelors degree in Mathematics.

Currently, Julie lives in Arlington, MA. Her supportive husband Timothy has accepted the fact that, at some point, everything they own will have paint on it... including their dog, Zoey.

Julie has been painting for over 7 years and works primarily in acrylics, sometimes with vintage paper ephemera. She is also currently attending the Boston Academy for Realist art, where she spends her days fine tuning her drawing skills. Her work is in private collections throughout the U.S., Canada, Germany, France, Lithuana, Finland and Australia.
